Here Is The List Of Top 5 Nollywood Actresses In 2014 By Charles Novia

Charles Novia has published his Best Actresses 2014 list on his blog... I can assure you that won't find any celebrity on that list... Read below:

"I would like you know that actresses on this list have been judged on their acting abilities and no on their fame.
There is a great difference between those who are known because of their richness and those who are known because of their acting abilities.."

1. Nse Ikpe Etim
The first Actress on my list is Nse Ikpe Etim (known as Nse Sule). Why her? I watched three different movies of her released in 2014, and I only found petty shortcomings in her convincing manner to play a role, the way she delivers any role she has to play character  and her character's change in the movies as 'Devil in the detail', ' I Come Lagos' and 'Purple Rose.'
Any trained eyed knows when an actress makes searches, she always captivates easefully audience.
Nse is one of these unknown actresses plenty of talent who always makes talk about her thanks to her talent. In 'Devil in the detail', she gives us a self-assured portrayal of a wife whose husband is worrying about her fidelity. The nuances of Nse, her gesture and her body language are interesting. She is a fabulous woman.

2. Onyeka Onwenu
Even if have not been convinced by the  adaptation of 'Half of has Yellow Sun', I have been agreeably seduced by the fantastic role of Onwenu Onyeka that played the character of 'Mama'. After an honorable career in music that lasted more than thirty years, it would seem that the Onyeka’s efforts to find her place in Nollywood have finally been awarded with her role in HOAYS.
Her mannerisms, facial expressions, voice modulations and representation of the roles as protective mother are nearly flawless in the movie. It is as if in HOAYS, she had the intention to prove she can do it and only blind will say that she didn't achieve her artistic goal. It is certainly a good experience that will make people talk about her then will offer her others opportunities to success in the two important Nigerian Entertainment industries; music and movies.
Onyeka Onwenu deserves our support. Well, at least she has mine!

3. Omoni Oboli
Two movies of Omoni Oboli have sufficient to convince me that Omoni deserves to be on this list. These movies are 'Render to Ceaser ' and 'Being Mrs Elliott'. While watching the two movies, I could appreciate different aspects of Omoni’s acting abilities. Artistically, maybe it is sometime a little difficult for her to render what we expect from her for certain roles but all that can be forgiven as she has an impressive ability to express anything by her face. Few Nollywood actors are capable of  a such exploit since what we especially see these days limits itself to a shy expressions in interpretative dialogue.
But  Omoni is more convincing into 'Being Mrs Elliot'. Her character must express several types of emotions and maybe choked comic transitions and Omoni does it well. A wardrobe malfunction at the Presidential Villa during a special presentation and the rumor that has caused made me want to watch out the movie.  I have really been seduced by the different cases of emotion change; Omoni‘s performance was perfect in the movie. Indeed, she showed off all her talent in the movie. And, thanks to this performance, she deserves to be on the list.

4. Queen Nwokoye
Very often, many tend to treat 'Asabawood' of coarse film style, without organization and without logic. While a lot of other movies of the same type, including those supposedly named ' New Nollywood Movies', are full of imperfections; however we must not deny that some actors and actresses practicing this kind of movies are very full of talent.
Queen Nwokoye is one of these actresses of Asaba style movie whose performance in 2014 deserves to be mentioned. Whereas I was searching few movies in which she would have played in 2014, I discovered that she is currently the most commercial actress of Asaba movies since Mercy Johnson is on motherliness vacation, selling movies over millions. But that information didn't influence my judgment that is based on the acting performances of that time, however that make me think that Queen has something that gives the envy to viewers to buy these kinds of movies.  Knowing that she is the top selling Asaba movies in 2014 confirmed that she has something exceptional.

5. Kemi Lala Akinboju
I suppose that many readers did not watch 'Dazzling Mirage' by Tunde Kelani, a movie in which Lala Akindoju plays the role of Funmiwo, a young frail sickle cell patient. I watched it during a film festival that held in November and I have been impressed by the character of Lala in the main role. The Director did a good casting choosing Lala knowing the viewers empathy to her and she did what we expected from her emotionally and physically in the movie, watchers apparently have been impacted by Lala as we begin to see and understand what it is to be a Sickle Cell victim.
Sometime Lala needed a training moment to completely master the roles but it is important to also mention that these moments were rare. In 'Dazzling Mirage', the viewer laughs with her, cry with her, feels her pains, many people finally thought that Lala was a Sickle Cell sufferer in real life. Such a performance deserves to be recognized.
I advice you to watch this Kemi Lala Akindoju’s movie. It was her first major role in a feature length.
